Wow, these rad kids can draw!

Hey you guys! How's it going? Today I'm featuring some way-cool kids from Elk Grove Village, Illinois, here on the blog!

I have to tell you, one of my favorite things in the galaxy is seeing kids get psyched about Galactic Hot Dogs. I mean, I'm still kind of freaking out that I now have a real, hold-in-your-hands, actual book out there for people to buy. But then I see kids all crazy-excited about it...

And my tiny little Earth brain gets so happy, I can barely handle it.

My buddy, Max Brallier -- you know, the author of my book -- visited Rupley Elementary School a few days ago, and the kids gave him a galactically awesome welcome! Check out those amazing signs they made above, and this one of me and Princess Dagger!

Wow, those kids can draw! Max had a big crowd listening to him talk about Galactic Hot Dogs...

And then he met with kids in their classrooms to say hi and sign their books.

Max said he had such a great time and the kids were mega fun.

If you haven't bought your copy of Galactic Hot Dogs: Cosmoe's Wiener Getaway, what are you waiting for?! Find out where you can one and then get reading!

Way cool Galactic Hot Dogs fan art and Lego awesomeness!

Hey everyone! The other day I was surfing the Intergalactic Internet and I found some more awesome Galactic Hot Dogs fan art -- some even in Lego form! You Earth kids are super creative, man.

These drawings are by Kaylee at the Eliot School in Boston, Massachusetts. I think she did an amazing job!

More rad Galactic Hot Dogs fan art!

Hey everyone! I found some more awesome Galactic Hot Dogs fan art on the Intergalactic Internet (check out the first stuff I found here). I think it's way cool that Earth kids are drawing pictures of the GHD crew -- and even our evil nemesises. Wait. Nemeses? Nemes -- oh, you know what I mean. The bad guys.

These two amazing pictures were created by CruellaDeVil84:

Quiz: How well do you know Princess Dagger?

Oh, smudge, you guys. I got my butt kicked by the Princess when we were playing Space Race Cars II yesterday. Apparently she had space bumper cars in her evil palace and is an expert driver. Who knew? Now I’m losing the Neon Wiener Videogame Tournament! BONES! I have to do better at our next game. It’s Hyperspace Heroes, which I’ve heard of, but never played. Wish me mega-tons of luck. I need it.

Speaking of the purple princess who is kicking my butt, I’ve got a fun little quiz about her today. Let’s see how much you know about your favorite sort-of evil space princess!

Princess Dagger from Galactic Hot Dogs

1. What cool weapons does Princess Dagger carry?

     A. Twin daggers
     B. Fire and ice flash pistols
     C. Two mini-versions of her evil mom’s energy staff
     D. A pen and a pencil that both shoot blasts of white-hot energy

2. How old is Dags?

     A. 12
     B. 13
     C. 14
     D. 15

3. When Princess Dagger first stole away on our ship, she was wearing a cape. What did she ditch the cape for in chapter 6?

     A. A sparkly necklace
     B. PJs
     C. A space suit
     D. An apron

4. Tricky two-part question: Does Dags have ears and what side is her hair swirl on?

     A. Yes, and her right side
     B. No, and her left side
     C. No, and her right side
     D. Yes, and her left side

How do you think you did? You can find the answers here. Then take this poll and let me know if you've got impressive Dagger knowledge or not!

How many did you get right?

Tomorrow we're back to our awesome reading marathon and we'll pick up with Chapter 18: Game Over! If you haven't been reading along with us, no worries. You can easily start from the beginning here!

Map-o-sphere slices, video games, and…evil?

Galactic Hot Dogs: Chapter 15 -- Evil Ways
Hey you guys! How’s it going? This weekend we’re joining in a spaceship food truck bonanza on Oftar 12’s third moon. It should be pretty cool. When we’re not selling dogs, Princess Dagger is psyched to try different foods from around the galaxy, and Humphree’s going to hunt down some new hot sauce ingredients. Me? I’m hoping to find some adventure, as usual!

Let’s dig into our reading marathon — today we’ve got an action-packed chapter to read! When we left off, Dags froze Krax and we escaped the MWWF arena. Phew!

In Chapter 15: Evil Ways, I try to piece the map-o-sphere together, we find out where the final slice is (it’s completely rad), and the Princess has an unwelcome encounter. Yikes! Find out what happens, and then check out…

Galactic Hot Dogs: behind the scenes art and facts

Today I’ve got some original artwork that’s never been seen before! These are early sketches an illustrator did of Humphree, Dags, and me. You can see she was trying to figure out exactly how we should look in the book.

I think it’s so cool to see how artwork for a book gets created!

Okay, I gotta run. We’re almost to Oftar 12’s moon and we have a lot of setup to do. I want get it done so we have some time to explore the moon — you never know what you’ll find…

Have a rockin’ weekend,
Cosmoe

What would I do without my best buds?

Hey all. As I’ve been flying around intergalactic space this week with Humphree and Princess Dagger, I’ve been thinking about my cruddy buddies and how awesome they are.

Like that one time I had to fight the Boss Worm, Humps and Dags really were clutch in a tight spot. And then, when Dags pulled a fast one on Krax… well, read about it for yourself in Chapter 14: Cosmoe is Crowned! That’s the next installment in our reading marathon, and it’s pretty excellent.

And now it’s time for…

Galactic Hot Dogs: behind-the-scenes art and fun facts

Today I’m going to school you on illustrations and color. Well, really, Rachel is. She’s the illustrator of my book! Check out the next image. Rachel did it when she was figuring out what we should wear.

Galactic Hot Dogs crew: color test art

Rachel did those less-detailed drawings to play with the colors more easily when she was getting Goober's coloring and Dags' dress right. Get this: The clothes we wear in the book show off our unique personalities. How cool is that?

I wear a red shirt in the book because I’m all into adventure and excitement. And jeans because I’m an Earth kid from the USA — what’s more American than jeans, right?

Humphree’s like the voice of reason of our crew. So he’s wearing mellow colors that show he’s usually a calm sort of dude. Usually.

And Princess Dagger? Well, she’s smart, digs adventure, is kind of girly, and can be a teeny bit bossy. (Don’t tell her I said that.) So turquoise is a perfect color for her.

Pretty cool, huh? I didn’t know how important color is in illustrations! I’m going to be interviewing Rachel soon, so if you’re into drawing and art, you’re going to love what she has to say.

See you here tomorrow for part two of my Max interview!

Stay awesome,

Cosmoe

Totally rad Galactic Hot Dogs fan art!

Hi you guys! Today I’m going to show you some amazing art done by Galactic Hot Dogs fans! I found this stuff while surfing the Intergalactic Internet, and I was so psyched that I had to share it with you.

This way-cool art was done by a Poptropican. If you don’t know what Poptropica is, read this blog post. Basically it’s a super awesome online game that has cool “Islands” to play, and there’s even a Galactic Hot Dogs Island! A Poptropican named Serious Bird created this in Realms, where you can build your own worlds:

This one is pretty amazing. It’s by a fan named SailorStar64, and she created this drawing of Dags and me:

And finally, I don't know who did these cool drawings, but it seems like the artist created a Galactic Hot Dogs logo in Spanish. Sweet!

Fan art is the coolest. Seriously. Whenever I find some more, I’ll post it here!

My (not mushy) valentines for my two best buds

Hey you guys! I hear Valentine’s Day is this weekend over there on Earth. Some of you might be like, “Ugh, gross. Romance and stuff.” Well, I know it kind of a lovey-dovey holiday, but I don’t think it totally has to be about that stuff. I think it’s about friendship, too. And since I’ve got two of the best cruddy buddies in the whole galaxy, I thought I’d make a valentine for each of them.

Now before you get all, “What the smudge? Cosmoe’s getting all mushy on us?” just hold on a space second. These are Cosmoe valentines. Not your typical sentimental gooey gunk, you know what I mean? So here we go…

First up, my main man — er, alien — Humphree. I think I captured some of his finest qualities in this valentine. Ha ha.

Galactic Hot Dogs Humphree valentine

And of course, one for the Princess…

When I showed Humps and Dags their valentines, they were like, “Huh? What’s Valentine’s Day?” They thought the whole idea was kind of goofy, and pretty much think humans are even weirder than they did before. But they laughed because they’re awesome like that.

See you tomorrow when we read the next chapter in our reading marathon and find out if I escape total zombification! Ahhhhh! (If you missed the last chapter, you can check out my last blog post to get caught up.)

See ya later,
Cosmoe

What's waiting for me on the creepy old pirate ship?

Galactic Hot Dogs Chapter 8: Mayday of DecayHi everyone. How's it going? I have to be honest, for me it's been a pretty crummy, smudge-a-riffic day. You know when one thing after another goes wrong, and you're like — seriously, could this day get any worse? And then it does?

First the air conditioner fuzzed out right when we were near the Second Sun of Solune. We still had to go by five more suns! It was hot as butts in the ship for hours. Then I overcooked a batch of hot dogs and we had to choke them down plain because we were out of mustard. Humps finally got the a/c fixed — and then proceeded to kick my butt at Super Moon Ninja Death Jab. If that wasn’t bad enough, the Princess then beat me at Hyperspace Heroes. Argh!

So yeah, not the best day. But at least it went better than that day in Mayday of Decay. That’s the next chapter in our reading marathon, and it’s awesome. It’s full of creepy, icky… well, I’m not going to tell you! Find out for yourself

Today for your never-seen-before thingie, I’ve got this wicked cool piece of art: an amazing poster of Humphree, Princess Dagger, and yours truly!

Galactic Hot Dogs computer wallpaper background

I think it could make a pretty awesome wallpaper for your computer’s desktop. Save it to your computer and give it a try!

Well, I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Time for me to chill out with a buzzberry shake and read some old Star Wars comics. That should turn this day around!

See ya later,

When the duo becomes a trio…

Hey everyone! How’s it going? Today I’m writing to you while wearing my new “I survived the Twin Suns Shopping Center” t-shirt. The shirt’s not kidding, man.

When I thought Princess Dagger was lost in a shoe store, she was actually fending off these wacko aliens with her fire and ice flash pistols. She was doing pretty darn awesome when Humps and I got there. Then Humps went into Humphree Hurt Hug mode while Goober and I helped the Princess, and that was that. We were outta there as fast as possible. I hope we never run into those bad dudes again. Yikes.

Let’s pick up where we left off in our reading marathon! At the end of chapter four, we had bounty hunters, bad guys, and all sorts of creepy creatures on our tail. How the heck are we going to get out of this mess? And why does Princess Dagger choose this moment to talk about our future together?! Read Chapter 5: Wiener Parade to see what happens…

And now for today’s behind-the-scenes stuff. In honor of Princess Dagger’s awesomeness in chapter five, let’s check out how an illustrator came up with how she’d look in the book:

Early illustrations of Princess Dagger from Galactic Hot Dogs

Pretty cool huh? I laughed when I saw her ears in drawing “F” — Dags was NOT happy with that one, let me tell you.

Okay, you guys, I’ll see you tomorrow. Enjoy Chapter 5: Wiener Parade! And if you missed my Cosmoe quiz yesterday, go check that out too. It’s pretty rad, if I say so myself.

Smell ya later,

What the heck do you do when you've got Princess Problems?

Hey everyone! How are things going? Today I'm zooming down the Interstellar Highway and stealthily avoiding bad guys. They're everywhere out here. It's a wretched hive of scum and villainy, you know? Sometimes I wish I had the Force to see me through like Luke in Star Wars. At least I've got F.R.E.D to help me out.

So let's get back to our Galactic Hot Dogs reading marathon! At the end of chapter one, Humphree, the Princess, and I were all about to be blown to bits by rockets. Check out Chapter 2: Princess Problems to find out what happens next. Will the Neon Wiener be destroyed? Why did the Princess steal away on our ship? And - GULP - what is the Evil Queen going to do to us?

Since today's chapter is all about Princess Dagger, I thought you might like to see what she looked like in early designs for the book. Check it out:

early drawing of Princess Dagger of Galactic Hot Dogs

And of course, here's how she ended up looking:

Pretty different, huh? It took a while to get her hair exactly right because Dags wanted to be sure her 'do was, in her words, "flippin’ awesome!" She's giving me the hairy eyeball as I write this because she wants to be sure that I remind you that Chapter 2: Princess Problems is all about her and you should definitely read it because it's super way-cool.

Okay, gotta go. Traffic jam ahead. And a traffic jam in space gets pretty tricky - don't want to accidentally cut off a big, angry, HUNGRY alien, know what I mean?

Keep being awesome,
Cosmoe

The inside scoop on the Galactic Hot Dogs crew!

Hey everyone!

I heard a whole lot of you in the good old USA are buried under a mega-ton of snow. Man, I love snow. Princess Dagger and Humphree have never seen the kind of snow Earth gets. I mean, they’ve seen frozen stuff, for sure. The Princess can freeze stuff instantly with her ice flash pistol, and that’s freakin’ rad! But I gotta get them to Earth sometime to check out real-deal snow.

Speaking of my buddies, I said I’d tell you a little bit more about the crew of Galactic Hot Dogs today. So let’s get to it! I’ll start with my co-captain, Humphree.

Some of Humphree’s favorite stuff includes helio jalapeƱos, giving bad guys the Humphree Hurt Hug, and trying to beat me in Super Moon Ninja Death Jab. He’s always there when I need him. Humphree’s awesome like that.

And then there’s the (usually) not-evil Princess Dagger.

What does Princess Dagger dig? Eating space paste, zapping bad dudes with her fire and ice flash pistols, and organizing our messy ship (totally can’t get on board with that last one, but whatever).

Plus we’ve got Goober and F.R.E.D.

Goober is super cool because he’s all elastic and stretchy and stuff. He can turn into a lasso. Or a human shield. Or a really warm but kind of slimy coat. You know, whatever I need.

And F.R.E.D is my incredibly helpful, incredibly awesome flying robot. He’s like my own C-3PO and R2D2 mash-up. He fixes stuff, has endless gadgets, and is super useful!

We’re all pretty different creatures, but we've got something super-important in common: We all love getting into intergalactic space adventures!

Well, you guys, Humphree’s giving me the stink-eye. I gotta go sling some hot dogs or he’s going to slip some lime moon cheese in my hot dog when I’m not looking. Blech. I hate that stuff.

Come back tomorrow and I’ll give you a look at a cool Princess Dagger drawing that’s never been seen before — because tomorrow’s chapter in the reading marathon is… Princess Problems!

Until then, stay awesome (and safe if you’re in that snowstorm),
Cosmoe

PS: If you missed the beginning of the reading marathon, don’t worry. You can start here with Chapter 1.
